Turkey Says It Has Sent Ground Troops Into Iraq

The US is not protecting their most reliable ally in Iraq. More quagmire and mayhem to come.

SAMSUN, Turkey – Turkey’s military said it had sent ground troops into northern Iraq Thursday night in an operation aimed at weakening Kurdish militants there, the first confirmed ground incursion since the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.

The Turkish General Staff announced the action on its website on Friday. It gave no details of how many troops went or how long they would stay, and said only that they would return once goals had been achieved. Private NTV television reported 10,000 troops were involved and said they had pushed about six miles into Iraqi territory.

A Turkish analyst, commenting on NTV, said the attack appeared aimed at dealing the Kurdish militants, the Kurdistan Worker’s Party, a surprise blow before the snow melts and the guerillas make their traditional spring advance into Turkey to attack Turkish troops. The analyst said the operation would likely last between three and four days.

It was not clear what, if any, role the United States played in the incursion, which set one of its closest allies in a troubled region, Turkey, a NATO member that shares borders with Iran, Iraq and Syria, against another, Iraqi Kurds, the most important American partners in the Iraq war.

The US-NATO Preemptive Nuclear Doctrine: Trigger a Middle East Nuclear Holocaust to Defend “The Western Way of Life”

War pimp alert: Breaking cables accident or Internet warfare?

Friday 1 February the BBC broke the news that two of the undersea cables providing the middle east with Internet had been broken. Causing a critical telecom breakdown in countries as far ranging as Egypt and India. This was the second cable breakage in a day. Both cables are owned by the same English Telecoms company, U.K. FLAG Telecom . The reason for these breaks was not known but it was thought that an anker cable might be responsible. One cable was near Alexandria in the Mediterranean Sea and the second was 58 Km from Dubai. Repair ships had been send out to repair the cables but this could take up to two weeks in total.

It is curious that while these cables have been floating undisturbed in the Oceans for a long time and were never hit or damaged and all of a sudden two cables are completely severed in one day. What would be the odds at that happening?
What’s even more curious is that while China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan all reported some loss in their ability to  use the Internet the only country to have been completely disconnected from the Internet was Iran.

What makes this even more suspect is the fact that neither Israel nor Iraq were affected by the cut cables. None of this was mentioned in the BBC article, which strikes me as incomplete reporting. To make the situation even more bizarre is the fact that in an unprecedented cluster of cable break accidents a third cable was severed in the Persian golf. This cable is also owned by the same English firm. The break in this cable caused severe telephone disruptions on top of the Internet disruptions  already experienced in the region.

This break will take about two weeks to be repaired. These three events combined mean that Iran will be incommunicado for up to two weeks. It will severely disrupt the countries ability to do business and will be hugely damaging to their economy. It will help to destabilize the country in ways the Bush regime could only dream about. It also hampers the countries ability to reach out to the world directly and show their side of the “incidents” that America is using to trigger a war. This worked very well in for example the boat incident, some weeks ago, and a little longer ago Iran could proof it’s innocence when accused of providing the resistance with bombs.

The reason given for the breaks is hardly convincing, to think that huge ships sail around with their ankers hanging of the ship is so unlikely that it can not be taken seriously. That and the fact that all three cables belonged to the same company and that Iran is the only country completely cut of while Israel and Iraq have absolutely no problems strikes me as highly suspicious.

The Pentagon published a paper called the Information Operation Road map. In it it states; The Internet needs to be dealt with as if it were an enemy “weapons system”. I wonder is this the first of Iran’s “weapon systems” that is killed off while America prepares for an attack.  Iran is effectively isolated from the rest of the world with no means of communicating to the rest of us what is happening there. I can’t believe this is just an accident. The Neocon fascists have been biting at the bit, The Israelis are being prepared to be bombed. I have the feeling that we will see an incident between US soldiers and Iranians and it will trigger an invasion with the Iranians unable to use the Internet to show their side of the story.

Ritter: Bush’s claims source of concern

Oh oops,

Former UN arms inspector Scott Ritter says George W. Bush seeks to justify waging a war on Iran by claiming he is ‘an instrument of God’.

In an interview with the Metro Times, the former Marine Corps intelligence officer said Bush should be asked what he really means by claiming ‘God talks to him’.

It is disturbing that a man who has control over the world’s largest nuclear arsenal ‘speaks of World War III and the apocalypse’, he warned.

Bill Gates, Rockefeller and the GMO giants know something we don’t
by F. William Engdahl

One thing Microsoft founder Bill Gates can’t be accused of is sloth. He was already programming at 14, founded Microsoft at age 20 while still a student at Harvard. By 1995 he had been listed by Forbes as the world’s richest man from being the largest shareholder in his Microsoft, a company which his relentless drive built into a de facto monopoly in software systems for personal computers.

In 2006 when most people in such a situation might think of retiring to a quiet Pacific island, Bill Gates decided to devote his energies to his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest ‘transparent’ private foundation as it says, with a whopping $34.6 billion endowment and a legal necessity to spend $1.5 billion a year on charitable projects around the world to maintain its tax free charitable status. A gift from friend and business associate, mega-investor Warren Buffett in 2006, of some $30 billion worth of shares in Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway put the Gates’ foundation into the league where it spends almost the amount of the entire annual budget of the United Nations’ World Health Organization.

So when Bill Gates decides through the Gates Foundation to invest some $30 million of their hard earned money in a project, it is worth looking at.

No project is more interesting at the moment than a curious project in one of the world’s most remote spots, Svalbard. Bill Gates is investing millions in a seed bank on the Barents Sea near the Arctic Ocean, some 1,100 kilometers from the North Pole. Svalbard is a barren piece of rock claimed by Norway and ceded in 1925 by international treaty (see map).

John Hagee on Glen Beck

Glen Beck remember, called David von Kleist a nutter and a fantasist for being sceptical about the 911 attacks.
Just watch this interview if you can stomach it (it’s in 7 parts) and remember; 20 million people in the US think that the divine light shines out of Hagee’s ass.

On Track for U.S. Collapse

Bush and Cheney are steering the U.S. into a collapse. Only strong public voices by influential people can prevent the coming disaster. We desperately need for men and women who are known to the public and have credibility to speak up in the critical period ahead to avoid catastrophe.

  • A few weeks ago, Israel bombed a alleged nuclear facility in Syria. This is a warm-up for an attack on Iran.
  • In the last few days, the U.S. unilaterally tightened sanctions on Iran. Russia and China do not support this move.
  • A week ago Bush warned Iran that its attainment of nuclear arms would lead to World War III.
  • Russia, which has been assisting Iran in its nuclear construction program for decades, regards Western military action against Iran as unacceptable.
  • China has been arming Iran with missiles. Its relations with Iran have been improving for years.

We know that Bush and Cheney are capable of pre-emptive attack. We know that Bush will act if he believes he is right no matter what the costs are. In his distorted worldview, Iran with nuclear weapons is a scenario worth any cost to avoid.

We know that Bush, Cheney, and Rice have repeatedly warned Iran of meaningful consequences if Iran arms itself with nuclear weapons. We know that their terms in office end in 15 months. These are the critical months.

But it is by no means clear that the front-running candidates for office who may replace them hold substantially different views. Hillary Clinton has publicly called for sanctions against Iran and has called Iran a threat to Israel.

Why may an unprovoked attack on Iran lead to WWIII and why may it lead to the collapse of the U.S.?

War pimp allert: Pentagon Orders “Bunker-Busters” for Urgent Delivery; Strike on Iran in the Works?

Where would the military use a stealth bomber armed with a 30,000-pound bomb, and why the rush?
Tucked inside the White House’s $196 billion emergency funding request for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is an item that has some people wondering whether the administration is preparing for military action against Iran.

The item: $88 million to modify B-2 stealth bombers so they can carry a newly developed 30,000-pound bomb called the massive ordnance penetrator, or, in military-speak, the MOP.

The MOP is the the military’s largest conventional bomb, a super “bunker-buster” capable of destroying hardened targets deep underground. The one-line explanation for the request said it is in response to “an urgent operational need from theater commanders.”

What urgent need? The Pentagon referred questions on this to Central Command.

ABC News called CENTCOM to ask what the “urgent operational need” is. CENTCOM spokesman Maj. Todd White said he would look into it, but, so far, no answer.

US: Blackwater vies for jobs beyond security

If Blackwater USA was the one offering you humanitarian help when you are in a disaster zone I advise you to run. The last time they were doing that they were in New Orleans patroling the streets with bloody great guns. (See the header of this blog), and we all know what happens with Blackwater in combination with guns. Yet this is exactly what Erik Prince wants to do.

MOYOCK, N.C. — Even as Blackwater USA seeks to extricate itself from a firestorm over the conduct of its private-security forces in Iraq, company founder Erik Prince is laying plans for an expansion that would put his for-hire forces in hot spots around the world doing far more than guard duty.

Blackwater faces criticism in the wake of a Sept. 16 shooting by the company’s guards that the Iraqi government says killed 17 civilians, a crisis that appears to threaten the company’s livelihood. Yet at Blackwater’s headquarters here, where the sound of gunfire and explosions is testament to the daily training of hundreds of law-enforcement and military personnel, Mr. Prince’s ambition is on display.

Mr. Prince wants to vault Blackwater into the major leagues of U.S. military contracting, taking advantage of the movement to privatize all kinds of government security. The company wants to be a one-stop shop for the U.S. government on missions to which it won’t commit American forces. This is a niche with few established competitors, but it is drawing more and more interest from big military firms.

Dick Cheney Disagreed With President Bush Over Donald Rumsfeld Dismissal

Dick Cheney disagreed with President Bush over the president’s decision last year to remove Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld from office, the vice president told FOX News in an exclusive interview.

Cheney said despite Rumsfeld’s controversial handling of the war in Iraq, the secretary of defense was managing the war successfully.

Speaking openly with Bret Baier in the new documentary, “Dick Cheney: No Retreat,” the vice president said he “thought that in terms of the way forward, Don was the right guy to continue to lead the Department of Defense.”

Click here to view outtakes from the interview.

Cheney had reason to defend Rumsfeld. He was, after all, the man who gave the vice president his start in Washington, D.C.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it hadn’t been for what Don Rumsfeld was willing to do,” Cheney said, pointing to “the opportunity he was willing to give me nearly 40 years ago.”

Erik Prince and the Council for National Policy: Armageddon Soon

So now we have a groups of loonies helped by a crazy rich guy with a private army running around causing mayhem in the part of the world that they deem to be the theater of the coming Armageddon.

Today, Blackwater founder Erik Prince defended all of his company’s actions in Iraq to the Congress (and to the American people) as being as close to earthly perfection as humans can achieve on god’s earth. Prince, who is a also a founder of a right-wing foundation called “Freiheit,” which is German for “liberty,” aimed a laser-like scowl at the forehead of Chairman Henry Waxman and the other Democrats as they dared to ask questions of a CEO who has clearly grown accustomed to operating without oversight.

Herr Prince’s appearance before the committee led me to wonder what he has been discussing behind closed doors lately as a member of the super-secret “Council for National Policy.” Other right-wing luminaries who belong to the Council for National Policy include the Armageddonist novelist Tim LaHaye, and the right-wing evangelical leaders Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, James Dobson, Gary Bauer, and Ralph Reed. The late Jerry Falwell was also a member. There also close ties between the CNP and the beer magnate Holland Coors, the NRA leader Wayne LaPierre, Phyllis Schlafly, Oliver North, Grover Norquist, and Frank Gaffney.

The Council for National Policy recently held a top-secret meeting in Utah that Vice President Dick Cheney attended. “The media should not know when or where we meet,” the Council instructs its members, “or who takes part in our programs, before or after a meeting.”

America’s Armageddonites

Some interesting tidbits you might want to know.

Gary Bauer, former presidential candidate, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson are  or were in the case of Jerry Falwell, all members of the very secretive and ultra right wing Council for National policies. The organization was heavily financed by the Prince family. Yep, the one of Erik Prince fame.
Gary Bauer helped start up the PNAC project in 1997, the same year that Erik Prince’s Blackwater USA became operational.

Additionally Erik Prince interned under Gary Bauer  when he was 18 with the Family Research council  before interring in the white house under the first Bush.
The secretary of defence at the time was Dick Cheney. It was at this time that Dick Cheney authorised Halliburton to come up with a way to privatise the army. After his tenure as SOD he went to work for Halliburton.

Utopian fantasies have long transfixed the human race. Yet today a much rarer fantasy has become popular in the United States. Millions of Americans, the richest people in history, have a death wish. They are the new “Armageddonites,” fundamentalist evangelicals who have moved from forecasting Armageddon to actually trying to bring it about.

Most journalists find it difficult to take seriously that tens of millions of Americans, filled with fantasies of revenge and empowerment, long to leave a world they despise. These Armageddonites believe that they alone will get a quick, free pass when they are “raptured” to paradise, no good deeds necessary, not even a day of judgment. Ironically, they share this utopian fantasy with a group that they often castigate, namely fundamentalist Muslims who believe that dying in battle also means direct access to Heaven. For the Armageddonites, however, there are no waiting virgins, but they do agree with Muslims that there will be “no booze, no bars,” in the words of a popular Gaither Singers song.
